Weather ⛈

It’s December, and we only have two indoor games all day. Plenty to monitor

  • 49ers at Browns: This is the worst of the bunch with winds in the 20 mph+ range and gusts 35-40 and a good chance that it snows as well.

  • Falcons at NY Jets: Winds won’t be too bad considering how gusty the Meadowlands can be but, it looks like it will almost certainly be raining.

  • Rams at Panthers: light on the wind, but a high chance that we’ll see rain during this one.

  • Bills at Steelers: Rain chances seem to be diminishing but, it’s starting to look like we’ll have some 15 mph+ crosswinds come game time.

Situational 📆

  • The Falcons are playing on the road for the 2nd straight week (as well as an indoor team playing out in the elements in NY).

  • The Bills are on extra rest coming off the TNF game, but are also on the road for the 2nd week in a row, facing the Steelers.

  • The Panthers are on short rest after their MNF loss. They’ll head to the bye after today’s game.

  • The Chargers (vs Las Vegas) and the Dolphins (vs New Orleans) are coming off their bye week. Denver and Washington are as well, but they will be playing each other

  • Houston is off extra rest, having played last week’s TNF game.

  • Jacksonville is playing on the road for the 2nd straight week. The Titans, on the other hand, have not had a road game in over a month.

  • The Vikings are playing a second straight road game in Seattle today

  • San Francisco is on a short week after Monday Night’s game.

  • A handful of West Coast teams are playing early today, starting their road games in the 10 am local slot. They include the 49ers, Rams, and Cardinals.

Sunday Bets

Not a heavy week after a long Thanksgiving/Friday of getting after it. Still it wouldn’t be a Sunday without some action.

Rams 1st Half Team Total over 13.5 -135

Chalky, terrible donkey bet, but this is my 3rd-rated offense up against the 28th-rated defense. Said defense has zero pass rush ability and will be playing without two starting pieces in the secondary today. 14 points seems like the floor for the ultra-efficient Rams. I’m prepared to lay this price and be thrown into fits of rage when we get an offensive holding call in a few hours.

Jaguars/Titans over 42 -107

Just matchup-wise, I give both offenses some edges here, and especially like the Jags scoring as the favorite. I think I may need some Titans garbage points to get this done, but outside of the strange beatdown of the Chargers, we’ve seen this Jags defense give up big plays, no matter who the opponent is.

Washington +6.5 -101

I hate this bet, but the number is getting a bit out of hand for a road team with an inconsistent quarterback. The defense is nasty and is getting the reigning DPOY back this week, but by all accounts, the Broncos do not have the better quarterback in this matchup (this is not an endorsement of Mariota; it’s all relative, folks). Gross one, but after winning with the Bears Friday, I’m riding high on “trust my numbers” bets.
