Injuries, Weather, News, and Maybe Even Some Winners

Injuries 🤕

  • CeeDee Lamb comes into Sunday with no injury designation.

  • As expected, Puka Nacua will miss this week

  • Kyler Murray is not expected to return after the bye week for the Cardinals. It’ll be Jacoby Brissett again.

  • Brock Bowers is not expected to play for the Raiders, Jakobi Meyers will work out for trainers before the game and the team will make a determination on his status.

  • Packers RB Josh Jacobs is a true game-time decision with a calf injury and an illness. Emanuel Wilson would be the starter if Jacobs cannot go.

  • George Kittle is BACK. Unfortunately, the rest of the team is still hurt. Purdy and Pearsall remain out with several other WRs banged up and Mac Jones again starting under center.

  • The Vikings have activated LB Blake Cashman. Andrew Van Ginkel will not return just yet. Carson Wentz gets another start as McCarthy continues to rehab.

  • The Titans have activated DT T’Vondre Sweat. Calvin Ridley remains out for the offense, though.

  • David Njoku (knee) is out for the Browns.

  • Jalen Carter is a go for the Eagles

  • Denzel Perryman and Khalil Mack are back for the Chargers

  • Dre Greenlaw is expected to be back for the Broncos, but LB Jonah Elliss has been ruled out.

  • WR Deebo Samuel is OUT for the Commanders, joining Terry McLaurin on the bench. Zach Ertz is expected to play.

  • It appears that Stefon Diggs is good to go for the Pats

  • WR Jalen Coker is activated for the Panthers.

  • No Darius Slayton or John Michael Schmitz for the Giants.

  • Garrett Wilson is OUT for the Jets

  • Josh Downs will miss this week for the Colts with a concussion

  • DJ Moore and D’Andre Swift are expected to play for the Bears

Weather ⛈

It’s finally football weather. Lots of stuff to keep an eye on today. Let’s start with the worst one:

  • Miami at Cleveland - I’ve seen several Twitter Meteorologists trying to nail the timing of this one, and I think it’s probably a bad idea. At some point today, there will be heavy rain and wind gusts in the 40 mph range, and it likely overlaps with the game.

  • New Orleans at Chicago - Sustained winds over 15 mph with gusts 25+ and a chance that the morning rains stretch into the game.

  • LONDON: LA Rams vs Jacksonville - There will be some rain, and the roof doesn’t close all the way.

  • New England at Tennessee - slight chance of rain and thunderstorms, but the winds are the main concern. 15 mph sustained with 25 mph+ gusts.

  • Carolina at NY Jets - Sustained winds 15-20 mph. Small chance of some showers.

Situational 📆

  • Jacksonville and the Rams are playing in a completely different country. The Rams stayed on the East Coast last week, but then opted to wait until Friday to fly to London.

  • The Falcons are coming off a short week tonight, playing their second straight week of primetime games after their MNF win.

  • The Bears are also on a short week, hosting the Saints after their win on Monday night

  • Denver and the NY Jets opted not to take a bye week after playing in London last week. Denver’s opponent, the Giants, is on extra rest coming off TNF.

  • Green Bay had some flight delays and did not get to Arizona as soon as they had hoped

  • Minnesota is coming off their bye week hosting the Eagles. Philly also has extra rest, having played last Thursday.

  • New England is on their third consecutive week on the road in Tennessee today

  • Washington is on a short week. After their MNF loss to Chicago, they head to Dallas.

  • Monday: Houston is coming off its bye week, heading to Seattle

  • Buffalo and Baltimore are on the bye.

Giants +7.5

Gross team to go back to the well with, but situationally a bad spot for Denver here, coming off the London travel, facing a team that’s had extra rest. I understand the talent difference here is big, but Nix has not shown himself to be a good QB this year, and the Giants still have a good front seven. If Dart and Skattebo show up and we don’t see big mistakes, I think the G-Men can keep this close all game.

Cowboys -1.5

I played them earlier in the week at better prices, but still like this versus a reeling Washington team now down their two top receiving weapons. Dak is playing at MVP levels and now gets Lamb back vs a bottom-10 coverage unit. Dallas’ defense may not get a ton of stops, but I’m not sure they need to if the offense continues to hum like it has been.

Falcons Moneyline +113

I guess I’m finally buying into this defense being a problem. The pass rush has been solid, and with AJ Terrell back, it’s become a unit that can give teams fits. Slight disadvantage for this team in the rest department, but this looks like another defense they should be able to impose their will on. Getting Kittle back is undoubtedly a negative for this bet, but with the rest of the WR corps banged up or out, the defensive game plan can just focus on him and CMC. Give me another big Bijan game.
